Financial Controller

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead their finance function in Sunderland . This role operates on a hybrid model, offering a balance between collaborative office work and the flexibility of remote working. You will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls. The successful candidate will be a qualified professional with strong leadership capabilities, committed to driving financial performance and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This is a key leadership position within the organization, requiring a proactive and results-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of all financial statements and regulatory filings.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems.
• Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process, providing strategic financial guidance.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Act as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax advisors.

Requirements

• Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
• Extensive experience in a financial control or senior accounting role, ideally within a similar industry.
• Proven track record of managing financial operations and implementing financial controls.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced data analysis tools.
