Finishing Operative (Paint Spraying)

What you’ll be doing
As a Finishing Operative, you will be involved in all stages of the painting process:
- Checking and cleaning surfaces before applying various sprayed finishes (gloss, matt, primer, topcoat) with hand spray guns, ensuring adherence to technical specifications.
- Setting and operating ovens to required temperatures and durations, maintaining batch traceability of paint.
- Masking detail components to drawings/specifications using tapes, plastic plugs and bungs.
- Unmasking components, inspecting paint surfaces for damage or omissions, removing tapes, plugs and bungs with scalpels and probes, and rectifying any defects.
- Inspecting painted finishes using visual and automated techniques; measuring paint thickness and gloss levels to ensure conformance.
Characteristics & Skills
- Demonstrable experience in paint spraying and surface preparation processes.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Full understanding of health and safety and COSHH regulations regarding hazardous substances.
- Experience working in manufacturing organisations.
