The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for a Fire Safety Projects Lead to join a specialist fire safety team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a mobile, site/project-based role and would suit someone who has previous experience managing projects or works across multiple sites. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of fire safety works, managing subcontractors and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and within budget.
The role is based around the Basingstoke region, with responsibility for projects across North Hampshire and into Reading, with some coverage potentially required across South Hampshire.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of specialist fire safety projects, including:
*
Organising and managing programmes of works from commencement through to completion.
*
Overseeing subcontractors delivering fire safety works.
*
Monitoring progress, quality, costs and programme performance.
*
Ensuring works are completed on time and within budget.
*
Ensuring subcontractors adhere to Health & Safety requirements, RAMS and relevant procedures.
*
Carrying out site visits and monitoring works being delivered.
*
Ensuring appropriate quality control and compliance standards are maintained.
*
Reviewing and managing digital reporting and project information.
*
Managing contractor performance and addressing any issues or underperformance.
*
Maintaining accurate project records and ensuring information is kept up to date.
*
Working closely with internal teams, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
*
Keeping customers and relevant stakeholders informed of works taking place.
*
Supporting the delivery of fire safety actions identified through Fire Risk Assessments.
Types of Works
The successful candidate will oversee specialist subcontractors delivering a range of fire safety works, including:
*
Fire doors
*
Fire stopping/Loft compartmentation
*
Sprinkler systems
*
Fire alarm systems
The majority of projects will be within low-rise residential blocks, typically up to four storeys. Higher-risk buildings (HRBs) are generally managed by the major projects teams.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates who have previously worked in a mobile site, project or works management environment, where they have been responsible for managing multiple sites, contractors and programmes of work.
A trade background is not essential, however, you must have a good understanding of fire safety compliance, particularly in relation to quality control and digital reporting.
You should be:
*
An experienced project/site/works manager or similar.
*
Comfortable managing subcontractors and external contractors.
*
Able to understand and monitor fire safety compliance requirements.
*
Confident working across multiple sites and managing competing priorities.
*
Highly organised with excellent time-management skills.
*
Experienced in monitoring programmes, budgets and contractor performance.
*
Confident communicating with contractors, customers and internal stakeholders.
*
Able to identify issues and take appropriate action to keep projects on track.
*
Committed to maintaining high standards of Health & Safety.
Key Success Factor
A major part of this role will be the ability to manage your own time effectively.
You will be responsible for coordinating multiple projects and subcontractors across a geographical area, so strong organisation, prioritisation and autonomy will be essential.
Qualifications & Experience
*
SMSTS or relevant management certification
*
Relevant Fire Safety qualification, such as NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management, or equivalent, is desirable.
*
Experience within construction, surveying, property, housing or project management would be beneficial.
*
Own vehicle available for business use
If you have strong project or site management experience and are looking for an opportunity to work within a specialist fire safety environment, we would be keen to hear from you
