Firmware Engineer - Embedded Systems

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Firmware Engineer specializing in Embedded Systems to join their innovative R&D team in Reading . This role focuses on the design, development, and debugging of firmware for next-generation electronic devices. You will work closely with hardware engineers and software developers to create integrated solutions, pushing the boundaries of embedded technology. This position requires deep expertise in low-level programming and a passion for creating efficient, reliable firmware for complex systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems using C/C++.
• Implement drivers, libraries, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Debug firmware issues using hardware debuggers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define firmware requirements and optimize system performance.
• Develop and execute firmware test plans and procedures.
• Optimize firmware for performance, power consumption, and memory usage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering , Electrical Engineering , or a related field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR) and RTOS.
• Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, USB).
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
