Fleet Maintenance Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to oversee the entire maintenance operation for their diverse fleet in Bradford . This crucial role involves ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards, minimizing downtime, and controlling maintenance costs effectively. You will lead a team of technicians, manage supplier relationships, and implement robust maintenance strategies to support the company's logistical operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fleet management and a passion for optimizing vehicle performance and reliability within the West Yorkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for the entire fleet.
• Manage and motivate a team of vehicle technicians, overseeing their daily activities and performance.
• Source and manage relationships with external suppliers for parts, servicing, and repairs.
• Monitor fleet performance, analysing maintenance data to identify trends and areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations pertaining to fleet maintenance.
• Control the maintenance budget, tracking expenses and seeking opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or operational readiness.

Requirements

• Significant experience in fleet management or a senior maintenance role within the transport or logistics industry.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance procedures, and legal compliance requirements.
• Experience with fleet management software and systems.
• Excellent budgeting, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
• A relevant qualification in Automotive Engineering, Logistics, or Business Management is advantageous.
