About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Fleet Manager to oversee their diverse transportation fleet in Coventry . This role is essential for ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of all vehicles under management. You will be responsible for fleet maintenance, compliance, procurement, and driver management, playing a critical role in supporting the company's logistical operations. This position offers the chance to lead a vital function within the business, contribute to sustainable transport practices, and work in a hybrid model that blends on-site operational oversight with remote strategic planning, fostering a balance of hands-on management and flexible working in the West Midlands .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the effective management and operation of the company's vehicle fleet.
- Oversee all fleet maintenance activities, ensuring vehicles are serviced regularly and kept in optimal working condition.
- Manage vehicle acquisition, disposal, and replacement cycles to ensure the fleet remains modern and efficient.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, licensing, and insurance requirements.
- Monitor fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and accident rates to identify areas for cost reduction and performance improvement.
- Supervise and support fleet drivers, providing training and ensuring adherence to safety standards and company policies.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in fleet management or a similar supervisory role within transportation.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and regulatory compliance within the UK.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control related to fleet operations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Familiarity with fleet management software and tracking systems.
