About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Fleet Operations Supervisor to join their transport division based in Birmingham . This role is critical for ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of our diverse fleet, focusing on vehicle maintenance, driver coordination, and operational efficiency. You will be responsible for supervising a team, implementing preventative maintenance schedules, and ensuring compliance with all road safety and regulatory standards, contributing significantly to the reliability and performance of our logistics network across the West Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily fleet operations, including vehicle dispatch, driver scheduling, and adherence to delivery timelines.
- Coordinate the preventative maintenance program for the fleet, ensuring all vehicles are serviced regularly and meet safety standards.
- Monitor vehicle performance and fuel efficiency, implementing strategies to optimize resource utilization and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including HGV regulations, driver hours, and health and safety legislation.
- Manage driver performance, conduct regular check-ins, and address any operational or disciplinary issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of fleet assets, maintenance schedules, and operational data using relevant software systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within fleet operations or a related transport/logistics field.
- Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance, repair processes, and fleet management best practices.
- Knowledge of UK road transport regulations, including tachograph laws and health and safety requirements.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with fleet management software and a good command of standard office productivity tools.
