Flight Operations Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an organized and proactive Flight Operations Officer to join their team in Edinburgh . In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of flight schedules, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant flight operations. You will liaise with pilots, air traffic control, maintenance, and other departments to manage day-to-day flight activities and respond to operational disruptions. This position requires excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and a thorough understanding of aviation regulations and operational procedures, working within a supportive team dedicated to aviation excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage daily flight schedules, considering factors such as weather, crew availability, and aircraft maintenance.
• Monitor flight progress in real-time, identify potential delays or disruptions, and implement contingency plans.
• Ensure all flights comply with relevant aviation regulations, company policies, and operational limits.
• Communicate effectively with pilots, cabin crew, dispatch, and external agencies like air traffic control.
• Prepare and disseminate operational information, including flight plans, NOTAMs, and weather briefings.
• Manage operational disruptions, such as diversions or cancellations, and coordinate necessary resources.

Requirements

• Proven experience in flight operations , dispatch, or a related aviation operational role.
• In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, meteorology, air traffic control procedures, and flight planning systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport across diverse teams.
• Proficiency in using flight planning software and operational databases.
• A degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Science, or a related field is advantageous.
