About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Reading , specializing in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. This role is instrumental in creating new and improved product formulations that meet consumer needs and market trends. You will be involved in all stages of the product development lifecycle, from ideation and formulation to testing and scale-up, working closely with cross-functional teams. This hybrid position allows for focused lab work and research, combined with regular collaboration with marketing and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development activities to formulate new FMCG products and improve existing ones.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments, ensuring rigorous methodology and accurate data collection.
- Analyze product performance, stability, and sensory attributes, documenting all findings thoroughly.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to understand consumer needs and translate them into product specifications.
- Support the scale-up process from laboratory to pilot plant and full production, troubleshooting any technical challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in product development , preferably within the FMCG industry (e.g., food, beverages, personal care).
- Strong understanding of formulation science, ingredient functionality, and product testing methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and laboratory skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
