Food Safety Officer

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Food Safety Officer to join a local authority team in East Yorkshire on a full-time contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact within a busy and supportive regulatory services team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out food hygiene inspections in line with current legislation and statutory guidance.
• Undertake food standards inspections across a variety of food premises.
• Manage a varied caseload, prioritising workloads effectively to meet service demands.
• Provide advice and guidance to food business operators to support compliance.
• Complete inspection reports, enforcement actions and associated casework.
• Contribute to the delivery of the authority's food safety and public protection objectives.

Requirements

• Competent and authorised to carry out both food hygiene and food standards inspections.
• Previous local authority experience within food safety or environmental health.
• Ability to work independently and manage a diverse workload.
• Strong organisational, communication and report-writing skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to integrate quickly into an established team.
