About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Forestry Data Analyst to join their team in a fully remote capacity. This role is vital for interpreting complex forestry data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to support sustainable forest management and resource planning. You will work with large datasets derived from various sources, including satellite imagery, field surveys, and sensor networks, to inform strategic decisions within the Agriculture & Forestry sector. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, proficient in data manipulation and visualization tools, and possesses a strong understanding of forestry principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and organize large datasets related to forest inventory, growth, health, and environmental factors.
- Develop and implement statistical models and analytical techniques to identify patterns and trends in forestry data.
- Utilize GIS and remote sensing software to analyze spatial data and create thematic maps.
- Generate clear and concise reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with forestry experts to understand their data needs and translate them into analytical frameworks.
- Monitor forest ecosystem changes and contribute to long-term strategic planning for resource management.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forestry, Data Science, Environmental Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Data Analyst, with a focus on environmental or natural resource data, preferably forestry.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing platforms.
- Excellent data visualization skills and the ability to present complex information effectively.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
