About the Role

Our client is looking for a reliable and physically fit Forestry Operative to join their expanding team in the Manchester area. This hands-on role is critical for the management and maintenance of forestry land, involving a variety of practical tasks to ensure healthy forest ecosystems and efficient timber production. You will work closely with experienced foresters, utilizing specialized equipment and adhering to strict safety protocols. This is an outdoor-based position for individuals who enjoy physical work, have a strong work ethic, and are keen to contribute to the sustainable management of woodlands within the agriculture and forestry sector. Key Responsibilities

• Perform tree felling, pruning, and thinning operations using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Assist with planting new trees and carrying out woodland regeneration activities.
• Operate and maintain forestry machinery, including chainsaws, chippers, and vehicles.
• Control undergrowth and clear sites using mechanical or manual methods.
• Monitor forest health, identifying and reporting signs of disease, pests, or damage.
• Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience in forestry, arboriculture, or a related outdoor manual labour role.
• Competence in operating chainsaws and other forestry equipment is essential.
• Certification in relevant NPTC or equivalent qualifications is advantageous.
• Good physical condition and the ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions.
• Awareness of health and safety best practices in a forestry environment.
