Formulation Scientist - Cosmetics

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative Formulation Scientist with a passion for the cosmetics industry to join their dynamic team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is focused on the development of novel cosmetic and personal care products, from concept to launch. You will be responsible for creating stable, efficacious, and consumer-appealing formulations, working closely with marketing, regulatory, and manufacturing departments. Key Responsibilities

• Formulate a wide range of cosmetic products including skincare, haircare, and color cosmetics.
• Conduct bench-scale formulation development, optimizing ingredient combinations for performance, stability, and aesthetics.
• Perform physical and chemical stability testing of formulations under various conditions.
• Investigate and troubleshoot formulation challenges, including issues related to texture, color, fragrance, and preservation.
• Source and evaluate new raw materials and technologies to enhance product innovation.
• Prepare documentation for product development reports and support regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in cosmetic formulation development.
• In-depth knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, their functions, and interactions.
• Experience with various cosmetic product types and their manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of stability testing principles and analytical techniques for cosmetic products.
• Excellent creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to work collaboratively in our Stoke-on-Trent location.
