Formulation Scientist - Drug Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and technically proficient Formulation Scientist to join their drug product development team in Nottingham . This role focuses on the design, development, and optimization of stable, effective, and patient-friendly drug formulations for a range of therapeutic areas. You will apply your expertise in pharmaceutics, materials science, and drug delivery technologies to transform active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) into viable dosage forms for clinical trials and commercialization. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel pharmaceutical formulations (e.g., oral solids, injectables, topicals) for new chemical entities and existing drugs.
• Conduct pre-formulation studies, including API characterization, solubility, stability, and compatibility assessments.
• Perform formulation development experiments, screen excipients, and optimize formulations for desired release profiles, stability, and manufacturability.
• Develop and validate analytical methods for the characterization of drug products and intermediates.
• Prepare comprehensive development reports, protocols, and specifications for formulation activities.
• Collaborate effectively with analytical development, process development, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure seamless product development.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
• Strong understanding of drug delivery systems, excipient science, and physical chemistry principles.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment used in formulation development and characterization.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and guidelines relevant to drug product development.
