About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative Formulation Scientist to join their pharmaceutical product development team located in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is pivotal in designing and developing stable, effective, and manufacturable drug formulations across various dosage forms. You will be responsible for leading formulation development activities, from early-stage concepts through to tech transfer for clinical supplies and commercial manufacturing. The successful candidate will work within a state-of-the-art facility, contributing to the pipeline of new medicines and enhancing existing product lines with a focus on scientific rigor and practical application.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop novel formulations for oral solid dosage forms (tablets, capsules) and potentially other dosage forms (e.g., liquids, injectables).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies, including characterization of APIs and excipients.
- Perform laboratory-scale formulation development, optimization, and characterization using various analytical techniques.
- Plan and execute technology transfer activities to manufacturing sites, ensuring successful scale-up.
- Document all experimental work thoroughly, prepare technical reports, and contribute to regulatory filings.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Strong understanding of drug delivery systems , excipient science, and dosage form design.
- Proficiency in formulation techniques and analytical methods relevant to product characterization.
- Experience with GMP requirements in a pharmaceutical development environment in Stoke-on-Trent .
