Job Description
Quantity Surveyor – Civils / Utilities – Lower Thames Crossing
Specialist drilling and civil engineering subcontractor requires an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a newly secured package of works on the Lower Thames Crossing.
The company has secured a trenching and conversion/diversion works contract associated with the relocation of a water main. The initial requirement is for approximately 3 months, although there is strong potential for the role to extend significantly as the project and scope develop.
The Role:
* Commercial management of the subcontract package.
* Working under an NEC Option E contract.
* Managing applications, variations, compensation events and commercial reporting.
* Identifying contractual and commercial opportunities throughout the works.
* Working closely with the operational team to ensure all additional works and changes are properly captured and recovered.
* Proactively managing the contract to maximise value and commercial return.
* Liaising with the client and wider project team.
The Candidate:
We are looking for a commercially strong and proactive QS rather than someone who simply administers the contract. You should have:
* Strong NEC contract experience, ideally specifically NEC Option E.
* Previous experience within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure, highways or specialist subcontracting.
* Good understanding of change management and compensation events.
* A commercially savvy approach with the ability to identify and extract value from the contract.
* Confidence dealing with clients and operational teams.
* Ability to hit the ground running on a major infrastructure project.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist contractor on a significant package of works connected to one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects, with the potential for the initial 3-month assignment to develop into a much longer-term opportunity.
