Freight Forwarder

The Role

As a Freight Forwarder, you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of freight across UK and European routes, ensuring shipments are managed from booking through to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Managing freight bookings and coordinating vessel schedules. Negotiating rates with shipping lines and securing vessel space. Planning cost-effective and efficient transport solutions. Preparing and checking all shipping documentation, customs declarations and manifests. Acting as the main point of contact for customers, shipping lines, port operators and haulage providers. Coordinating the movement of out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo and heavy machinery shipments. Monitoring shipment progress and providing proactive updates to customers. Managing Proof of Delivery (POD) documentation and resolving operational issues or delays. Ensuring compliance with customs procedures and industry regulations. Criteria Previous experience within freight forwarding, shipping or logistics. Strong working knowledge of RoRo operations and wheeled cargo movements. Experience working with shipping lines, ferry operators or European road freight networks. Good understanding of customs procedures and import/export documentation. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. Experience using freight forwarding or Transport Management Systems (TMS). What's on Offer Competitive salary tailored to your experience and background.
