Job Title: Front of house Administrator
Location: Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, CM20 1QX
Hours: full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 17:00
Pay and duration: £12.71 per hour, up to 30th November, possible extension

We're looking for a Front of House Administrator to join the team at Princess Alexandra Hospital. This is a people-facing role where you'll help ensure patients, visitors and colleagues receive a friendly, professional and helpful service.
You'll combine administrative skills with excellent customer service, helping the front-of-house area run smoothly and making sure people are directed to the right place.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, is organised and would like to gain valuable experience working within an NHS environment.
What you'll be doing
As a Front of House Administrator, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day running of the front-of-house service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming and assisting patients, visitors and colleagues in a friendly and professional manner.
- Directing people to the appropriate departments, services or locations.
- Collecting, sorting and distributing incoming and outgoing post.
- Scanning, filing and maintaining accurate administrative records.
- Providing general administrative support to the team.
- Responding to queries and helping people find the information or support they need.
- Identifying and reporting any issues or concerns to the appropriate team member.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure the front-of-house area operates smoothly.
- Maintaining a professional and helpful approach at all times.
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:
- An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS
- Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times
- A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is approachable, organised and confident dealing with a wide range of people.
You should have:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing, reception, administration or similar role.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A friendly and professional manner.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to remain calm and helpful when dealing with busy or challenging situations.
- Confidence directing people and knowing when to escalate or report an issue.
- Basic administrative and computer skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Previous NHS or healthcare experience would be helpful, but we're also interested in candidates with strong transferable skills from customer service, reception, hospitality, retail, office administration or similar roles.
You'll also need either a vocational Level 3 qualification or at least 2 years' relevant experience.
