• We require strong problem-solving and technical communication skills.
• Experience with PyGeoAPI is desirable.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence is desirable.
• Previous experience delivering digital services within Government or the wider public sector is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• We develop responsive, accessible and high-quality applications using Next.js, React and TypeScript.
• We build frontend user experiences backed by internal APIs and search indexes.

• We collaborate with UX/UI, product and technical teams to create intuitive user experiences.
• We participate in code reviews, testing and debugging.
• We maintain and enhance existing applications.
• We troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• We produce clear technical documentation and contribute to defining project requirements.
• We implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• We develop and maintain automated testing.
• We work within an Agile delivery environment.
• We apply modern frontend development standards and best practices.

We are recruiting for an experienced Frontend Developer to join the Met Office on a long-term contract based in Exeter. This is a hybrid role with one day per week in the office and a contract length of 6+ months ongoing, offering a rate of £550–£600 per day. This is an excellent opportunity to work on modern digital services in a mixed Azure and AWS cloud environment, alongside product, design and technical teams.
