A long‑established, family‑run Funeral Directors in Basingstoke is looking for a reliable, practical, and compassionate Funeral Operative to join their close-knit team. No previous funeral experience needed — just the right mindset, professionalism, and willingness to learn.
What You’ll Do
*
Support funeral services as a driver and bearer, ensuring dignity throughout
*
Take part in a 24/7 on‑call rota (approx. one week in three)
*
Assist with the care of the deceased and accurate handling of belongings
*
Help prepare coffins, caskets, and the funeral home
*
Maintain vehicles to exceptionally high standards
*
Ensure services run smoothly, including checking floral tributes
*
Work calmly and respectfully with families and colleagues
What You Need
*
Full UK driving licence
*
Able to reach the office within 60 minutes when on call
*
Physically fit and comfortable with lifting and hands‑on work
*
Dependable, organised, and calm under pressure
*
Strong communication skills and a naturally empathetic approach
*
Team-focused attitude and willingness to learn
