About the Role
Our client, an acclaimed narrative-driven game developer based in Edinburgh , is seeking a talented Game Writer to craft compelling stories and engaging dialogue for their upcoming project. You will be responsible for developing the narrative framework, writing character dialogue, and contributing to the overall lore and world-building of the game. This role requires a deep understanding of storytelling in interactive media and a passion for creating memorable characters and immersive experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Write original story concepts, plot outlines, and detailed narrative treatments.
- Develop engaging character backstories, dialogue, and in-game text, ensuring a consistent tone and voice.
- Collaborate with designers and artists to integrate narrative elements seamlessly into gameplay and world design.
- Create lore documents, world-building bibles, and other supporting narrative materials.
- Edit and revise written content based on feedback from the narrative director and other team members.
- Ensure narrative consistency and quality across all aspects of the game.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Game Writer or in a similar narrative role for interactive media.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing skills, including dialogue, narrative design, and storytelling.
- Familiarity with game development tools and pipelines, including scripting and narrative design software.
- Understanding of player psychology and how to create engaging interactive narratives.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Passion for video games and a deep appreciation for narrative craft.
