The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an Experienced Gardener to join an established and highly regarded landscaping business maintaining high-quality private gardens across Surrey and the surrounding areas .

Based from Cranleigh , this is a full-time permanent position offering £30,000-£38,000 per annum , depending on experience.

This is a skilled horticultural maintenance role rather than basic garden maintenance .

You’ll be involved in the long-term care and development of high-quality private gardens, with a strong focus on plant care, seasonal management and presentation .

The team typically maintains around two gardens per day , allowing the time needed to work thoroughly and maintain each garden to a consistently high standard.

You’ll be responsible for everything from detailed border management and seasonal planting through to fine pruning, lawn care, plant health and irrigation checks.

The successful candidate will have several years of professional gardening experience, strong plant knowledge and an understanding of how gardens need to be managed throughout the seasons.

You’ll be joining a skilled and supportive team with ongoing training and genuine opportunities to continue developing your horticultural career.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high-quality private residential gardens
• Carry out lawn care, mowing, edging and seasonal lawn maintenance
• Undertake hedge cutting and fine pruning
• Manage established borders and planted areas
• Carry out seasonal planting
• Prune, train and shape shrubs, climbers and fruit trees
• Monitor plant health and identify potential issues
• Carry out irrigation checks and monitor watering requirements
• Maintain hard landscaped areas as required
• Understand and respond to the seasonal requirements of individual gardens
• Operate horticultural machinery safely and correctly
• Maintain excellent presentation standards across each property
• Communicate professionally with clients while working at their homes
• Work effectively both independently and as part of the wider team

Requirements

• Approximately 4+ years' professional gardening or horticultural experience
• Strong practical garden maintenance experience
• Good plant knowledge and understanding of seasonal garden management
• Experience maintaining high-quality private gardens advantageous
• Confident carrying out pruning, hedge cutting, lawn care and border maintenance
• Able to identify the appropriate care required for different plants throughout the year
• Professional and confident when working around clients
• Able to take ownership of your work and maintain consistently high standards
• Full UK driving licence essential
• Able to commute reliably to Cranleigh, Surrey

The following would be advantageous but are not essential:

• Level 2 Horticulture qualification or above
• PA1 / PA6
• Irrigation knowledge
• Relevant machinery certificates
