Gas Area Supervisor – Domestic Heating Installations

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break Call-out: Participation in an evening and weekend supervisor rota is required

Are you a gas-qualified heating professional with the technical knowledge and leadership skills to support a busy installation team?

Our client is looking for a Gas Area Supervisor to oversee domestic heating installations, support engineers and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Our client provides heating, hot water and compliance services to the social housing and public sectors, helping residents benefit from warmer, safer and more energy-efficient homes. This opportunity combines hands-on technical support with team leadership, quality assurance and customer service.

The role

You will manage the day-to-day activities of installation engineers, helping the team meet agreed weekly targets while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer care. You will also assess domestic properties and ensure proposed heating solutions meet technical requirements, customer needs and budget considerations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising and supporting engineers, providing technical guidance during normal working hours and when covering the supervisor call-out rota.

• Carrying out domestic heating surveys and producing accurate, detailed reports.

• Completing quality inspections and health and safety audits against agreed targets.

• Delivering the technical section of monthly toolbox talks, covering updates, procedures and lessons from quality checks.

• Resolving technical issues, complex installations and customer complaints, including attending site where required.

• Building effective relationships with customers and client representatives, ensuring contractual requirements are met.

• Supporting new starter inductions, engineer training and ongoing development.

• Working with the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality team to maintain competency records, identify training needs and ensure engineers only undertake work within their competence.

• Promoting a positive team culture focused on safety, professionalism and quality.

• Providing cover for the Regional Manager when required and supporting disciplinary or grievance investigations.

What we’re looking for

• A gas-qualified professional with an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heating and Ventilation, or an equivalent qualification.

• Practical experience in domestic heating surveys or heating installation projects.

• ACS accreditations, including CCN1 and CENWAT or equivalent, are preferred.

• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and develop engineers.

• A customer-focused approach and the confidence to resolve technical issues professionally.

• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate survey reports.

• A full UK driving licence.

• Availability to participate in the evening and weekend supervisor call-out rota.
