About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Gas Trader to join their sophisticated trading operations in Cambridge . This role requires a sharp understanding of the UK and European natural gas markets, managing trading activities to optimize profitability and manage risk. The position involves a hybrid working model, blending essential in-office collaboration with remote flexibility. You will be at the heart of market activity, making critical decisions that impact the company's energy portfolio and contribute to securing energy supplies.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trades in the UK and European gas markets , including day-ahead, intraday, and forward contracts.
- Develop and refine trading strategies based on market analysis, weather forecasts, and supply/demand dynamics.
- Monitor gas market developments, regulatory changes, and geopolitical events.
- Manage trading positions and ensure compliance with risk limits and company policies.
- Collaborate closely with the commercial, risk management, and back-office teams.
- Analyze market data to identify trading opportunities and potential risks.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in natural gas trading or a related energy trading role.
- Proven ability to make profitable trading decisions in volatile markets.
- In-depth knowledge of gas market infrastructure , trading hubs, and relevant regulations.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Energy Management, or a related field.
