Gas Turbine Service Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a global leader in power generation technology, is seeking a skilled Gas Turbine Service Engineer to support their operations based near Derby . This role is focused on providing expert technical support for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of industrial gas turbines used in power plants and industrial facilities. You will be integral to ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of critical energy infrastructure, working both in the field and from a hybrid office setup. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a strong mechanical and electrical background to advance their career in the power generation sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and overhauls on industrial gas turbines.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
• Execute repairs and replacements of turbine components, adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
• Participate in the commissioning of new gas turbine installations.
• Provide technical assistance and training to customer personnel.
• Maintain detailed service reports and documentation, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
• Respond to emergency call-outs to address urgent operational issues.

Requirements

• HND/HNC or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with industrial gas turbines (e.g., GE, Siemens, Ansaldo).
• Strong understanding of combustion, thermodynamics, and rotating machinery principles.
• Proficiency in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
• Experience with diagnostic tools and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
• Willingness to travel extensively to customer sites, both domestically and internationally.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
