Job Description
GCSE Maths Tutor - St Helens
Location: St Helens
Hours: 5-15 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Ongoing
We are currently seeking a confident GCSE Maths Tutor to support a young learner in St Helens through personalised tuition.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher or tutor who enjoys making Maths accessible and engaging and can identify gaps in knowledge while working at a pace appropriate to the individual learner.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality 1:1 GCSE Maths tuition
- Identify areas where the learner requires additional support
- Develop structured and engaging lessons
- Help improve confidence, numeracy skills and subject knowledge
- Adapt sessions according to the learner's progress
- Track and provide feedback on attainment
What We're Looking For
- Experience teaching or tutoring Maths at GCSE level
- Strong knowledge of the GCSE Maths curriculum
- Previous 1:1 tuition experience is advantageous
- A patient, encouraging and adaptable teaching style
- QTS/PGCE or relevant teaching experience preferred
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
- Right to Work in the UK
- Two professional child-related references
