General Teaching Assistant - KS1/KS2

Location: Lewisham, London

Salary: £93 - £105 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.

Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary

Start date: 19/10/2026

Hours: Term time, 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

A well-timed explanation or a little extra encouragement can change how a child approaches a task. Transparency Education is recruiting a General Teaching Assistant to support KS1 and KS2 learning in Lewisham.

You will work closely with teachers to help pupils stay involved, practise key skills and grow in confidence. This role offers a broad mix of classroom support, practical preparation and focused work with smaller groups.

Responsibilities

• Support lesson activities and teacher-planned group work

• Practise reading, spelling and maths skills with pupils

• Prepare classroom resources and adapt materials as directed

• Help children with additional needs take part in learning

• Encourage positive relationships and report progress or concerns

Requirements

• Experience supporting primary-aged children

• A patient approach and the confidence to take initiative appropriately

• Strong communication and basic literacy and numeracy skills

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable

• An enhanced DBS check appropriate to the role, or willingness to complete one.
