Geological Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and organised Geological Technician to support their exploration and geological assessment activities in Stoke-on-Trent . This is an essential on-site role where you will assist geologists and engineers in collecting, processing, and analysing geological samples and data. You will be involved in field work, laboratory analysis, and maintaining detailed records. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in geological principles, excellent practical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and safety. This position offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the mining sector and contribute to critical geological projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the collection of geological samples (rock, soil, core) during field operations.
• Perform basic laboratory analyses on samples, such as logging core and preparing specimens.
• Maintain accurate and organised geological databases and sample logs.
• Operate and maintain field and laboratory equipment.
• Assist geologists with data entry, mapping, and report preparation.
• Ensure adherence to all site-specific health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• HND or equivalent qualification in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a geological support or laboratory role is advantageous.
• Proficiency in basic geological sample handling and preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with geological software for data entry and mapping.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Good physical fitness for field work and ability to work in various weather conditions.
