Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their on-site team based in Manchester . This role is essential for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, earthworks, and slope stability for a diverse range of projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety and viability of construction projects by understanding and mitigating geotechnical risks. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about soil mechanics and ground engineering to contribute to significant local and national infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee geotechnical investigations , including site surveys, boreholes, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine ground properties and behavior.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, and other earth structures.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, advising on earthworks and foundation implementation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and environmental regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnics.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering .
• Knowledge of ground investigation techniques and laboratory testing .
• Familiarity with geotechnical design software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis).
• Understanding of relevant British Standards for geotechnical design.
• Excellent report writing skills and ability to communicate technical information clearly.
