About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Civil Engineer to bolster their Manchester -based operations. This role is crucial for undertaking site investigations, interpreting ground conditions, and providing expert geotechnical advice for a wide array of projects, from major developments to smaller specialist schemes. You will play a key part in ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and earthworks, directly contributing to the successful and sustainable delivery of construction projects across the North West. This is an ideal role for a motivated engineer passionate about ground engineering and its critical role in construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations, including desk studies, trial pits, and boreholes.
- Interpret soil and rock mechanics data to assess ground conditions and risks.
- Undertake detailed geotechnical design, including foundation design, slope stability analysis, and earth retention systems.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and foundation design recommendations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies on geotechnical matters.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes of practice and health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnics or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in geotechnical investigation, analysis, and design.
- Familiarity with geotechnical software packages (e.g., Plaxis, Geo5).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and client liaison.
- Willingness to undertake site visits throughout the Manchester region and beyond.
