Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their integrated engineering team in Edinburgh . This role is vital for ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and structures across a range of projects, from major infrastructure to building developments. You will conduct essential site investigations, analyse soil and rock mechanics, and provide expert recommendations to guide project design and construction. This hybrid position offers the chance to apply your specialist knowledge within a collaborative setting, balancing office-based analysis with necessary site visits across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analysis , including slope stability, foundation design, and settlement calculations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including design recommendations and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with structural engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure the suitability of ground conditions for proposed developments.
• Oversee field testing and laboratory analysis, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any geotechnical issues that arise.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Proven experience in geotechnical site investigation, analysis, and design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Plaxis, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake site visits as required within the Edinburgh region and beyond.
