About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their team in the scenic location of Plymouth . This role focuses on investigating ground conditions, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and designing foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures for a variety of construction projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and safety of foundational elements, working in a hybrid capacity that blends essential site investigations and office-based design. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about subsurface challenges to contribute to significant projects impacting the South West region.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct site investigations, including soil sampling and in-situ testing.
- Analyze geotechnical data to assess ground conditions and predict soil behaviour.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks for infrastructure and building projects.
- Develop geotechnical reports, including recommendations for design and construction.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant geotechnical standards and building regulations.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other consultants on geotechnical matters.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in geotechnical investigations and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis) and CAD .
- Understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Experience with site investigation techniques and equipment.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
