Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer to join their respected consultancy in Belfast . This role is essential for ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and earthworks for a wide range of construction projects throughout Northern Ireland. You will be involved in site investigations, analysis, and the design of geotechnical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and ground investigation programmes.
• Analyse soil and rock mechanics data to assess ground conditions and engineering properties.
• Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks solutions.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
• Provide technical advice and support during the construction phase of projects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical standards and health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline with a geotechnical focus.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, Slope/W).
• Strong understanding of ground investigation techniques and interpretation.
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes for geotechnical design.
• Ability to undertake site work and manage fieldwork logistics.
