Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Civil Engineer for a contract position, offering remote work flexibility. This role will focus on the analysis and design of foundations, earthworks, and slope stability for a variety of construction projects. You will be responsible for interpreting ground investigation data and developing appropriate geotechnical solutions to ensure the stability and safety of structures. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer to work on diverse projects with the flexibility of remote working from Stoke-on-Trent or elsewhere.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse soil investigation data, including borehole logs and laboratory test results.
• Perform complex geotechnical calculations for foundation design (e.g., shallow and deep foundations), slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare geotechnical design reports, recommendations, and drawings.
• Specify ground investigation requirements and oversee site investigations as needed.
• Liaise with clients and project teams to provide expert geotechnical advice.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards and Eurocodes.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Proven experience in geotechnical design for various types of construction projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStru, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics and engineering principles.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
