About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their team near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire , focusing on ensuring the stability and safety of mine infrastructure. In this crucial role, you will conduct detailed analyses, design stabilization measures, and provide expert advice on geotechnical aspects of mining projects. You will work closely with site engineers and geologists to assess risks associated with ground conditions and implement appropriate mitigation strategies. Key Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations and analyses for open-pit and underground mining operations.
• Design and oversee the implementation of ground support systems, slope stabilization, and excavation support.
• Monitor ground movement and stability using instrumentation and survey techniques.
• Assess seismic risks and develop mitigation strategies for mine sites.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with geotechnical design standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with specific exposure to mining environments.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Rocscience suite (Slide, Phase2), GeoStudio, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and groundwater flow.
• Experience with site investigations, laboratory testing, and in-situ testing methods.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
