About the Role
Our client is looking for a diligent and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Manchester . This role is crucial for ensuring the stability and safety of mining infrastructure and excavations. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and provide expert recommendations for design and construction. Working predominantly on-site and in the local office, you will be an integral part of project teams, contributing to the successful execution of complex mining projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer dedicated to applying advanced geotechnical principles in a challenging industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute geotechnical investigations , including site reconnaissance, drilling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock samples to determine engineering properties and behavior.
- Perform stability analyses for slopes, excavations, tunnels, and foundations.
- Develop geotechnical design recommendations for mine infrastructure, waste dumps, and tailings facilities.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and provide technical support during construction.
- Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical codes, standards, and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably within the mining sector.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, FLAC, Rocscience Suite).
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
- Experience with field testing methods and laboratory soil/rock testing.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills for clear technical documentation.
