About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their established engineering practice based in Birmingham . This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and providing expert advice on earthworks and slope stability for a wide range of construction projects. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safe and efficient execution of projects by integrating geological data with engineering principles. This position offers the chance to work on diverse projects, from commercial developments to infrastructure upgrades, contributing significantly to the success and safety of each undertaking within a team dedicated to technical excellence and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage site investigations, including borehole drilling , in-situ testing, and laboratory analysis of soil and rock samples.
- Interpret geotechnical data and produce detailed ground investigation reports with appropriate engineering recommendations.
- Design foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project requirements.
- Conduct slope stability analyses and provide mitigation strategies for potential geotechnical hazards.
- Provide technical support to construction teams during the execution phase, addressing any unforeseen ground conditions.
- Develop and manage project budgets and timelines for geotechnical investigations and design tasks.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering , covering site investigation, analysis, and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio, Holebase).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
- Experience with report writing and presenting technical findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites across the region.
