About the Role
Our client is looking for a competent Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role is focused on investigating ground conditions and providing expert advice for a range of construction projects. You will conduct site investigations, laboratory testing analysis, and develop foundation and earthworks designs. This is a key position for an engineer passionate about understanding the ground and ensuring the stability and safety of structures built upon it, contributing to successful project outcomes within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations, including boreholes, trial pits, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock mechanics data, and interpret laboratory test results.
- Develop foundation designs, including piled foundations, raft foundations, and shallow foundations.
- Provide designs and recommendations for earthworks, slope stability, and retaining structures.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, summaries, and recommendations for project teams and clients.
- Ensure all geotechnical designs and site activities comply with relevant industry standards and UK regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
- Familiarity with geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, Geo5) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Experience with site investigation techniques and equipment.
- Strong report writing skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
