Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join their team, focusing on projects in the Leeds area with a hybrid work arrangement. You will be responsible for assessing ground conditions, advising on foundation design, and managing geotechnical risks for a variety of mining and construction projects. This role requires a blend of field investigation, laboratory testing oversight, and detailed analysis, contributing to the stability and success of major infrastructure developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee ground investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to assess bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability.
• Provide geotechnical design recommendations for foundations, excavations, and earthworks.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are met.
• Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with geotechnical designs and specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis).
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes for geotechnical design.
• Experience with site investigation techniques and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
