Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Stoke-on-Trent . This hybrid role allows for a combination of office-based work and remote flexibility, focusing on the ground conditions and foundation design for a variety of construction projects. You will be responsible for site investigations, laboratory testing analysis, and providing expert advice on soil mechanics and foundation engineering. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys technical challenges and wants to contribute to the stability and safety of major infrastructure and building developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical site investigations, including soil borings and in-situ testing.
• Analyze laboratory test results and interpret ground conditions.
• Perform foundation design calculations for shallow and deep foundations.
• Prepare geotechnical reports, recommendations, and specifications for clients and project teams.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and construction teams to integrate geotechnical solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant geotechnical standards and building regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Experience in geotechnical site investigations and ground characterization.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills for effective collaboration in a hybrid setting.
• Ability to interpret geological data and provide practical engineering solutions.
