Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their dedicated team based in Sunderland . This role is crucial for ensuring the stability and integrity of foundations and earthworks across a range of challenging projects. You will conduct site investigations, perform complex analyses, and provide expert recommendations to support our diverse client base. The successful candidate will work closely with our site teams and design engineers to deliver safe, economical, and sustainable geotechnical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute geotechnical site investigations, including soil sampling and testing.
• Analyze soil behavior and ground conditions using specialized software and techniques.
• Design foundations, retaining walls, slope stabilization measures, and other geotechnical structures.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, calculations, and design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance and successful project outcomes.
• Provide on-site technical support and supervision during construction phases.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio suite, PLAXIS).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and earthworks design.
• Experience in managing geotechnical investigations and reporting.
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites across the region.
