Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated and skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their established engineering consultancy in Birmingham, West Midlands . This role involves assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, earthworks, and slope stability for a variety of construction projects. You will conduct site investigations, analyze data, and prepare detailed reports that are crucial for the safe and efficient execution of building and infrastructure developments across the region. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage geotechnical investigations , including site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine foundation design parameters and assess slope stability.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports , recommendations, and design drawings for various construction applications.
• Collaborate with structural and civil engineers to integrate geotechnical findings into overall project designs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK geotechnical standards, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations.
• Undertake site visits during construction to monitor earthworks and foundation installations, resolving any emergent geotechnical issues.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience specifically in geotechnical engineering .
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
• Experience with ground investigation techniques and interpretation of CPT, SPT, and trial pit data.
• Familiarity with British Standards and Eurocodes related to geotechnical design .
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation.
