About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding consultancy based in Plymouth . This role is critical for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice for a variety of construction and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for planning and managing site investigations, interpreting soil and rock mechanics data, and producing detailed geotechnical reports and design recommendations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a passion for ground engineering to contribute to significant projects in a key coastal region and develop their expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and undertake ground investigations, including site surveys and drilling supervision.
- Analyze soil and rock samples, interpret data, and perform geotechnical calculations.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including foundation design recommendations and slope stability assessments.
- Provide expert geotechnical advice to internal design teams, clients, and contractors.
- Ensure all designs and recommendations comply with relevant standards and Eurocodes .
- Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering , Geology, or a related discipline; MSc in Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS , Geo-slope) and interpretation of site investigation data.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Excellent report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel to sites.
