About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Manchester . This role involves conducting in-depth site investigations, analyzing soil and rock mechanics, and providing expert recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and excavation support across various mining and civil engineering projects. You will work collaboratively with site teams and design engineers, with a mix of remote analysis and on-site assessments. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer passionate about ground engineering challenges and contributing to the safe and efficient development of infrastructure and resource projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties using laboratory and field data.
- Perform stability analyses for slopes, excavations, and retaining structures.
- Design foundations, ground improvement schemes, and dewatering systems.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, geologists, and construction teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining or large infrastructure projects .
- Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., GeoStudio, Plaxis).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed for hybrid work requirements.
