About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their specialist consultancy in Derby . This role involves assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on the geotechnical aspects of construction projects, from initial site investigations to foundation design and earthworks. You will work with a team of engineers and geologists on a variety of projects, ensuring the stability and safety of foundations and structures. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of soil mechanics and ground engineering principles, contributing essential expertise to the planning and execution of complex construction developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee ground investigations, including soil sampling and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties to assess ground conditions and stability.
- Provide recommendations for foundation design, earthworks, and slope stability.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports and design documentation.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies on geotechnical matters.
- Ensure compliance with relevant geotechnical design standards and codes of practice.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in geotechnical investigation and design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Knowledge of field testing methods and laboratory procedures.
