Geothermal Energy Project Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Geothermal Energy Project Manager to oversee critical projects in the Newcastle upon Tyne area. This role is central to expanding our client's portfolio in sustainable energy, managing all phases of geothermal development from initial site investigation through to operational handover. You will be instrumental in driving the successful execution of complex projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic planning capabilities, and a deep understanding of the geothermal energy landscape, contributing significantly to the region's clean energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of geothermal energy projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Oversee geological surveys, resource assessment, and drilling operations for geothermal resource development.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout project lifecycles.
• Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to achieve project milestones.
• Mitigate project risks and resolve technical and logistical challenges effectively.
• Prepare detailed project reports, progress updates, and financial forecasts for senior management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in project management within the energy sector, specifically with geothermal energy .
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale drilling and power plant construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of geothermal resource exploration and utilization technologies.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
