About the Role

Our client, a prestigious golf club located in the heart of Leicestershire , is seeking an experienced and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the meticulous maintenance and development of its championship-standard greens. This pivotal role involves managing a skilled groundskeeping team and ensuring the course remains in pristine condition throughout the year, meeting the high expectations of members and visitors alike. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of agronomy, turf management, and sustainable practices, contributing significantly to the club's reputation for excellence in the Leisure & Sports sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for all areas of the golf course, including fairways, greens, and roughs.
• Manage, train, and lead a team of groundskeepers , ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of work.
• Oversee the irrigation system, pest and disease control programs, and fertilization schedules to promote optimal turf health.
• Maintain and operate a fleet of specialized golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and operational readiness.
• Monitor budgets for labour, materials, and equipment, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Liaise with club management, committee members, and players regarding course conditions and upcoming projects.

Requirements

• A recognised qualification in Horticulture , Agronomy, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within high-end golf course management.
• In-depth knowledge of turfgrass science, soil science, and integrated pest management (IPM).
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining golf course machinery and irrigation systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Certification by a relevant professional body is advantageous.
