About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to manage the day-to-day operations of their prestigious golf course in Leicester . This role is pivotal in ensuring the course is maintained to the highest standards, providing an exceptional playing experience for members and visitors. You will lead a dedicated groundskeeping team, implement advanced agronomic practices, and manage course development projects, contributing directly to the club's reputation for excellence. This is a hands-on position requiring a deep understanding of turfgrass management and leadership skills within a dynamic leisure and sports environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass health, including fertilization, irrigation, and pest management.
- Oversee the daily scheduling, training, and supervision of the groundskeeping team, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality work.
- Manage course maintenance activities, such as mowing, aeration, and bunker maintenance, to uphold pristine playing conditions.
- Oversee the budgeting process for course maintenance, including labor, equipment, and supplies, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with club management and committees on course improvement projects and capital expenditure planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and integrated pest management techniques.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Valid UK driver's license and relevant pesticide application certifications.
