Golf Course Superintendent

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Golf Course Superintendent to manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a prestigious golf course located in the heart of London . This pivotal role involves overseeing a team of groundskeepers, ensuring the highest standards of turf care, course presentation, and overall player experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the challenging playing conditions and immaculate aesthetics expected of a top-tier facility, contributing significantly to the club's reputation and member satisfaction within a dynamic and demanding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass maintenance, including irrigation, fertilization, and pest control programs.
• Supervise, train, and manage a team of grounds staff, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality workmanship.
• Operate and maintain all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and optimal performance.
• Manage course preparation for daily play, tournaments, and special events to the highest standards.
• Monitor weather patterns and adjust maintenance strategies accordingly to protect turf health and playability.
• Oversee budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management for the golf course maintenance department.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven expertise in turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and pest/disease management.
• A degree or diploma in Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy groundskeeping machinery and associated technologies.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage effectively under pressure.
