Graduate Civil Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Civil Engineer to join their well-established practice in Plymouth . This is an excellent entry-level position for a recent graduate eager to launch their career in civil engineering. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers, contributing to the design and delivery of various infrastructure and development projects. This role provides comprehensive training and exposure to a wide range of civil engineering disciplines, fostering professional growth and supporting your journey towards chartered status within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of civil engineering elements, including drainage, roads, and earthworks, under supervision.
• Perform engineering calculations and prepare drawings and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Conduct site visits and assist with site investigations and surveys.
• Support senior engineers in project management tasks and documentation.
• Ensure designs comply with current building regulations and technical standards.
• Help in the preparation of technical reports and tender documents.
• Learn and apply best practices in health, safety, and environmental management on site.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, achieving at least a 2:1 classification.
• A keen interest in pursuing a career in civil engineering and working towards professional qualification (e.g., MICE).
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering design principles and software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
